Relay for Life officially opens tomorrow at 5PM PT.
I'm going to take a break from my country-by-country coverage of the Relay for Life project to fulfill a request by Jade Lily to list the members of my build crew. Managing a project this enormous with only volunteers to help should have been a nightmare for me, but it was more like a dream. These individuals really pulled together and worked like a family to make history in Second Life, and to really make a difference in the lives of real-life people.
Iumi Cline (Administrator) - Iumi was my lieutenant for the entire project. She was the managerial go-to person when I was unavailable and she was a "floater" who went from build to build helping wherever and whenever help was needed including Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, and others.
Catherine Omega (Technical Services) - Cat is well known in Second Life for her technical expertise, and we were grateful to have that for this project. Anybody with any scripting needs could look to her for help.
Sally Petty - Sally worked on the ferry system, Mexico, France, South Africa, the central infrastructure and many other odds and ends. She was invaluable as a "floater" bringing additional manpower (PERSONpower!) to builds that may have been falling behind schedule. Her flexibility and patience were invaluable for this project.
Isruel Asturias - Isruel created the New York City build and contributed odds an ends to other countries. He proved to be dependable and consistent and exhibited a refreshing joy with everything he created.
Forseti Svarog & Ingrid Ingersoll - The consummate professionals, Forseti and Ingrid put together a sharp rendition of Canada and the CN Tower that made us all proud.
Boliver Oddfellow & Shukran Fahid & Kal Hocken - Bringing their expert work from Dublin sim, these three gents are responsible for Ireland, what will surely be a favorite hangout in the Relay for Life project.
Timeless Prototype & CoyoteAngel Dimsum & AngryBeth Shortbread & Christopher Sterling - Timeless was not only prompt and dedicated in building the UK, but he was also responsible for the breathtaking London Eye which quickly became a landmark achievement for Relay for Life.
Maxx Monde & Ysg Leviathan - What better plan than to combine an expert builder with an expert texture artist. These well known builders made Spain a reality for us.
Lordfly Digeridoo - Lordfly wasted little time pulling the Netherlands on one of the earliest starters (thank you SO much!). His dedication resulted in one of the most charming attractions in the project.
Kyrah Abattoir & Tequlia Tapioca - A French native herself, Kyrah blew us all away with her build of the Eiffel tower. Tequila rounded out the French experience with the beautiful L Arc de Triomphe.
Stella Costello - Easily the most artistic build in the entire project, Stella took Italy to heights few builders could ever hope to achieve. The beauty of her sculpture and architecture cannot be adequately described with words and should be seen with one's own eyes.
Kendra Bancroft - Kendra of Neualtenburg fame was a perfect fit to build Germany, and the proof is in the pudding! She deployed her build quickly, efficiently, and without suffering
Barnesworth Anubis - The well-known and beloved Barnesworth created the gorgeous Taj Mahal and the diamond mine in South Africa. His willingness to put time and energy into other people's builds as well as his own was inspiring and infectious.
Ready Jack - Ready created the China build and was an invaluable contributor to South Africa. About an hour before Jade and I took MTV on a sneak preview tour, Ready's China build was not yet in a well developed state (nor did it have to be, the deadline hadn't yet been reached). However, one hour later when the tour arrived, we had our socks knocked off by how quickly Ready transformed his build into a working China. This boy can be fast on his feet when he needs to be!
BuhBuhCuh Fairchild - BuhBuhCuh (or BBC as we call him) took perhaps the most unique interpretation of his project with Japan. Instead of a realistic build, BBC's Japan was inspired by traditional japanese art. The results are simple, minimalist, and absolutely gorgeous.
Lost Thereian & Ambyance2 Anubis - Lost and Ambyance2 really wowed us with Australia. Host of the relay sailboat races, this build has some of the finest texture work and landscaping I have ever seen. Ever.
Fallingwater Cellardoor & Petgirl Bergman - Great people, great builds. Their Sweeden contribution became an adorable place to walk through or take a rest.
I should stress that these individuals are only the ones who reported to me to make the build project happen. There are many many other people who were essential for fundraising, DJing, Auctions, event planning and other critical services to make the entire project a success. Warm thanks go out to them, and thanks to my crew! <3
