Tipped off by a post in the forum, by Infiniview Merit, I avoided a return to the real world, by rushing in world to report on this development, and going to Athabasca.
There is indeed a small low-ceilinged structure, containing displays from Amazon.com, with links to the web, and displays indicating that educational events about amazon web services may take place here.
Jeffronius Batra appears to be the owner and builder of the structure and things within it, and a sign outside the door also exhorts people who are interested to IM him. There are details on a slideshow inside.
It's a teeny 512 sq. m parcel, with an object limit of 117, which seems a bit weird for such a big name. The title of the parcel says: Amazon Web Services Developer Relations Virtual, *** Unofficial Hangout for the Amazon Web Service. If anyone knows more, spill!

1. Jeff Bezos blogs about Amazon Web Services and Second Life: http://aws.typepad.com/aws/2006/07/amazon_search_i.html
He also talks about the first SL product to use AWS, Second411 (http://www.second411.com), an item-by-item search engine for SL! With the S411 search HUD, you can search both SL and, now, Amazon.com. Hal9k, the creator, has plans to add both Google and Yahoo! searches in his next version.
