Matt Basiat posts to his hack diary about something he achieved in SL using the new XMLHTTP request. This photograph frame (2/10 for the prims, Matt, and no actual "frame" visible) recognises an avatar and looks them up on Flickr. If it can't find anything, it asks for a tag to search for, and will remember it. There is one disadvantage: you have to own land to be able to use this.
There's a short film on the website. Scripting friends have tried to explain to me why it is exciting to be able to import web pages or images into SL and I didn't really get it. After all I can look up pages while I am in SL. But with this, I think I am beginning to get it ....
However, I wonder if it would be possible to break the TOS injunction on revealing other people's real-life data while in SL? If they have linked their avatar with their RL pictures? Anyway, the film is cool....
