The downtime caused by Second Life's routine Wednesday morning update gives residents a welcome opportunity to reintegrate with their families and loved ones. Of course, some of us opt instead to rock back and forth in front of our computers while compulsively surfing, searching, and snooping anything they can find about Second Life.
And that's how I discovered this little gem on Amazon: Second Life: The Official Guide by Michael Rymaszewski. While there hasn't been an official announcement for this official guide, Rymaszewski's paperback is the first item returned if you do a search for "Second Life" though the Amazon search engine.
Welcome to Second Life, Michael! Now tell us what it's all about.
Of course Michael Rymaszewski is no stranger to video game guidebooks, having written a small library of gaming how-to books. His deep understanding of commanding armies in Ages of Empires III, managing a zoo in Zoo Tycoon 2, and strapping into a modern day war machine in Combat Flight Simulator 3, will undoubtedly serve him well when explaining Second Life's society along with it's "written and unwritten rules" as described in the book description.
What may strike people as most curious is the "official" part which implies some coordination and blessings from Linden Lab for a book written by a prolific Video Game Author. You know ... Video Game ... that thing Linden Lab tells us Second Life isn't! Despite the confusing signals Linden Lab may be sending by having a presence in that section of every bookstore, this blogger has a feeling the publication will be a success. We may even learn some cheat codez!

1. I need to get this. I don't know any of the unwritten rules. Will this book explain bug reporting, griefing defenses and where to go for great canabalism RP?
