I was contacted earlier today by resident ZATZAi Asturias who passed on to me this story. ZATZAi responded to a tp request from a couple of friends to check out what seemed like a self-replicating object in a sim they were inhabiting. Upon arrival, ZATZAi confirmed that it was indeed an object that had filled the sim and giving multiple copies of itself to anyone who approached it.ZATZAi then called Live Help and, as luck would have it, reached previously-interviewed Tateru Nino. In the quick conversation with her, further details were furnished, including the name of the owner of the object and that each identical object nevertheless held different names, all of them a string of numbers. Tateru gave thanks and mentioned that someone would be on their way shortly. Right after that, Jeska Linden sent out the message that LL was aware of the issues and was working on them.
Regardless of what you might think of LL, or Live Help, this is the proper way to deal with any anomalous issues you may encounter. Inform a Live Helper the second you see objects behaving strangely, and, just like spam e-mail, never accept an object from someone you don't know. It's also worth right-clicking on an object to see who its creator is, as ZATZAi did. Nice work, my friend, and thank you for this story!
The creepiest part of this tale? From ZATZAi's email: " ... then I saw a lakebed full of the object, it had maxed out that parcel but seemed to be having trouble spreading to the neighboring parcels." *shuddering* Like it was alive!

1. I must confess I don't recall this particular one - I handled a lot of calls over the six hours that I was on Live Help.
It was a real team effort, though. The live helpers were great (I was only one of many), and it was an all-hands effort from Linden Lab, with off-duty Lindens coming in to help out.
What I'm sorry for is that many of us probably missed a lot of questions that weren't related to the crisis - there were just too many calls to keep up with.
