[UPDATE] The list of prizes has now been added to this post! Read on ...
As Tateru Nino posted on her blog, SL is rapidly approaching the one million resident mark, and it's time to start the countdown. To commemorate this event, Second Life Insider is announcing its first contest: The resident who comes closest to naming the exact date and time that the millionth user registers will win a bunch of cool schwag from some of SL's most prominent creators!
A few important notes:
- We'll be going by the 'Total Residents' stat on the SL home page, regardless of continued debate over unique users vs. alts.
- To enter, one must be a resident with a verifiable account (by 'verifiable', we mean only that you can be IMed in-world; no worries over paid account status).
- Entries must be made in Comment form on this post. We will not count subsequent posts as allowable entries.
- In the case of a tie, we will choose as the winner whomever posted the earlier entry.
- The winner will be declared in a new post as soon as possible after the millionth resident has registered. The winning resident will be notified by IM and given a week to acknowledge their victory. I will offer the winning resident the option of an interview, which may, of course, be declined.
- In the interest of impartiality, SLI bloggers will be ineligible.
- Coal Nelson donates a 'Personal Comet' head orbiter (if you haven't seen one of these, they're really cute! Come find me in-world for a look)
- Mistress Midnight donates something from her personal line of clothing (details to be determined by Mistress)
- Six Kennedy donates a 400L gift certificate to Gurl6 (her fashion and hairstyle store)
- Our own Aimee donates both a 1000L credit voucher to Preen and a few unreleased Preen items (to be determined by Aimee)
- Jakkal Dingo donates 2 800L gift certificates to The Werehouse (Like my werewolf av? I got it from Jakkal!)
- Tippy Fizz donates a portrait session in her photography studio (She does fine work, no lie)
- Trinity Serpentine donates a 2 hour set from the Radio Radio DJ of the winner's choice (though the DJ requested must either be off-schedule or this can take place during their scheduled set)
- Ordinal Malaprop donates the ability of the winner to pick three of her existing products, for which Ordinal will offer free customisation (within reason, she will not re-engineer the whole thing, but will add features, re-texture, change ammunition, make them go faster, etc.)

1. Hmmm: I'll say November 4th, 2006 at 2:30 PM SLT.
I'll be wrong, but at least I've tried to guess ;)
