1. Wow as a 3-week SL newbie, it really is a shitty place to hang out. Multiple outages every week, massive lag at times, griefers, lost items. If SL was my web host I'd have quit for another provider a week ago.

2. It is shitty, and it has become significantly worse since the introduction of non-verified accounts. It doesn't take a great deal of intelligence to see that this was a monumentally stupid decision. It really does remove any way of preventing griefer attacks such as these. The moment anyone's account is banned, the griefer simply creates a new one and carries on.

I wonder how many months we're going to waste listening to Linden Lab trying to convince themselves and their customers that the increase in griefer attacks (that coincided almost exactly with the introduction of non-verified accounts) have nothing to do with non-verified accounts?

This needs a fairly radical solution, otherwise SL will basically go down the pan. Newbies won't be bothered to stick with something that is perceived as faulty (well...never mind "perceived as"...it IS faulty), and the "real world" businesses that everyone expects will come in and use SL thereby increasing it's global presence will not want to waste their time and resource.

By way of a radical solution, one suggestion would be for Linden Lab to find its balls and admit it was wrong. Can you see that happening? Flying pigs anywhere?

3. Heh heh I agree with Mr Stan, I think SL should goto Pay to Play again. But I asked a Linden a bit back and it was forseable in the near future or so. Maybe it's someone who pays for SL and wants it to go back because of other griefers and is coordinating all these attacks :o :p It's not me so don't bother investimogating :p im to stupid to do somethin like that XD but yea....the griefing attacks are a pain, the lags a pain (but understandable but can also be fixed) and the whinings a pain XD

4. Wow - it's always amusing to see people so passionate about something virtual like this, although I realize that people make their living in SL.

I think that Grey Goo attacks and other forms of griefing are excellent opportunities for Linden Labs to strenghthen their existing infrastructure which will ultimately lead to a more robust world.

I doubt that I would have signed on if I'd had to pay, and I know a lot of other people who are experimenting with SL precisely because of it's free nature. I don't know anyone doing any griefing however.

If you want SL to grow into a much larger community, these kinds of growing pains are necessary. I think that for its very survival SL MUST allow free accounts.

Firstly, I'm not sure what's "amusing" about it, but some people are easily amused. Secondly, I don't really see what is "virtual" about it. SL is a product that I pay for, and use. If it is not working properly, or if the company that runs it is doing it badly, I say so. My customers (RL and SL) would do exactly the same if I was inept.

I wouldn't worry though. If LL carries on like this, SL will be filled with non-paying residents. Nobody in their right mind will continue to pay to receive this crappy level of service.

Too passionate? Oh dear. How sad. Never mind.

6. You are all like against the non paying accounts, but think about this, using a credit card and paypal for vertification is good, they need to take out the mobile phone method, as it is just stupid, and only works in the us.
