Johan Durant is a name which will be on everyone's lips fairly soon, for having made one of the most necessary tools for clothes makers in SL: a 3D preview program. This allows you to preview your textures on an avatar, see whether designs work or not. He has made a number of alterations to the program on the suggestions he has received, and is making alpha textures and layering available too. It's free!
