Pontiac: YOU Build Excitement

Pontiac is joining the growing list of RL companies investing in SL by creating a location called Motorati Island, upon which they plan to provide a dealership with customizable versions of its Solstice GXP vehicle, along with a test track and venue for musical performances.

However, the most interesting thing about this development isn't what Pontiac is building; it's what they want residents to build. Namely, Pontiac will be offering car enthusiasts free parcels of land upon which they can build, so long as what they're building is a project devoted to car culture. Residents hoping to score this free land will need to visit Motoratilife.com, where they will submit their proposal for Pontiac's approval. It's not clear how much land will be available to the successful applicant, but presumably the information will be forthcoming.

Vehicles are definitely fun to jaunt around in, though I haven't raced around a track before. It's refreshing to see a company not do the same old thing, i.e., simply establishing a presence. It sounds like Pontiac wants to really integrate with SL in a novel way. Let's hope to see more of this sort of thinking with the companies that are sure to follow.
