If you are suffering from the no Playstation 3 blues, lets wipe up those tears and find someone who did and give them a smug look. Not because they spent way too much money on their new console, and not because Second Life has a rumble feature (is doesn't does it) but because your Second Life was the inspiration to the new user experience they are pushing with the Playstation 3. Sony Worldwide Studios head Phil Harrison said in an interview with semi-official Sony blog ThreeSpeech, "Look at Second Life. Everything about the experience is user-created content. That is a very, very powerful metaphor for where we're going."
I love it. Next generation consoles are going in the direction of user created content. The Wii is going to have personal Avatars called Mii's (Hopefully that fun little name was no the reason for the name Wii.), Sony is looking to add user created content at multiple levels from MySpace style theme changes to full game mods. Microsoft is pushing the new XNA programming platform, which promises to open up the Xbox Live Arcade to hobbyist programmers. Pretty soon we are going to have to call mod chips copybots.

1. Great! Now, if only this weren't coming from a company that's been known to install rootkits on its customers' computer systems...
