Our avatars are eternal. Unless we specifically design them to, they will never change, age, or die. How appropriate, then, that the World Transhumanist Association Second Life Chapter will, on December the 18th, hold a program on Uvvy Island, by Future of Humanity Institute fellow Anders Sandberg, called 'Keep on raging against aging'. A typical Science Fiction premise has humans downloading their consciousness into their avatars ... given the lag, griefing, and assorted headaches we encounter on a daily basis, is this still a desirable outcome?
