1. My profile is fairly complete, compressing a lot of information into the spaces provided...and I even have my blog available in the new Web tab.

Many times, when looking at a new job applicant, I'll pull their profile to check out how new they are and whether they're verified accounts, which I consider preferred (though we will consider unverifieds as well). I also have done some probing of friends' and acquaintances' profiles, to see how they're using the new Web tab. I've found one or two new blogs for my blogroll that way...

3. I think a properly filled out profile is a good sign that someone takes SecondLife (or any online community that has Profiles) seriously. I mean, you don't have to give any RL info (I'd recommend not doing so in most cases in fact!), but telling people a little about the things you enjoy doing and the things you know is a very important step away from being just another Tabula Rasa.

I've rejected people solely on the basis that they had zero in their profiles. Not even a group. :(

Is that a Nazist sort of approach to the matter? Yes.

And you know what? if you don't like it you can go log off for all I care. That's how important I consider the addition of something to a profile by its Resident to be.

4. I think a filled out profile shows a few things and mine is filled out to the extent I can do and still enjoy it. I know personally I want to put up a web tab but unsure. I'm not a PG or PC person so I'm looking into methods to do what I want without TOSes or AUs.

5. I check them out. Most tourists have blank profiles. Account creation date is useful for deciding whether or not to offer my "newbie" landmarks. I've learned about interesting groups and places from profiles. They're also great when I'm trying to find someone's main store - when I find a creator of things I like, I want to see everything they offer.

I wish more people filled out the Languages section.

The new web page tab has been iffy for me. Some people make SL specific ones or "portal" style ones leading to pages of interest, but being dumped into someone's flashing and noisy myspace page can be really disconcerting.

6. I am a profile FREAK! It's always like a true treasure when I find someone has filled in their profile, even with a RL picture under 1st Life. Man! That's like gold!

I guess I am a pervy voyeur.

7. Profiles are Very important they can tell you what someone is looking for and what type or person they are or are not. I check them all the time. I keep mine up to date and try to keep it small to minimize scrolling.
