4. I think Anshe is mad as well as all her "angels". I think someone is becoming a little drunk with power. Anshe loves to change the rules on the fly to whatever suits her needs not only with this latest bit of news but with everything "Dreamland".

My view is that for the purpose of Copyright discussions, Anshe Chung is not a person or a public figure (though the user(s) controlling the avatar may be), Second Life does not have locations in the sense that New York City is a location, and there is no definition of 'public' and 'private' content in the Terms of Service.
When talking about Copyright and intellectual property, in my opinion, Second Life is simply a service that allows users to create and distribute content. Some of that content *looks* like people and places. In this sense, SL is similar to other services, like Flickr or Wikipedia.
Based on the SL TOS, content creator retain copyright to the content they create and distribute via Second Life (as do people who upload photograph to Flickr). To me, this means that if other people distribute that content, or images of that content without permission, it is not unreasonable for the content creator to assert their rights.
Is there a difference between distributing a screenshot of my browser showing a photograph on Flickr without permission, and distributing a screenshot of the SL client showing somebody's build, avatar, or texture without permission?
Catherine Linden's opinion are interesting, and it would be even more interesting if she would state whether this is LL's legal stance on the issue, and/or they would be willing to expand the TOS to clarify her viewpoint.

7. If we were talking about someone taking snapshots of Anshe Chung on her SL land or even on a street somewhere, I might agree. But I believe that here she was at public gathering to which the press had been invited. In RL, the press cannot take pictures of individuals and distribute them without permission. But the press can take pictures of individuals involved in newsworthy events, or individuals who are public figures.

When Ms. Chung stepped on that stage, she is no longer a private individual and she becomes fair game for photos. If she disagrees, she needs to go back to being a private individual and stay away from the media.

14. I was under the impression that we should be following standard photo policies. Where editorial/news photos could be taken and used as in RL. That is what this situation seems to be.

So does this mean that if I buy an item from someone and wear it, or have it in my house, that the person who made it could keep me from taking pictures of myself or my property and posting them????

This could get pretty ridiculous, very fast...
