With a little prompting, Zee Linden has updated the economic charts/graphs on the second life website to include the figures for December, 2006.At the present time, the page does not contain the link to the spreadsheet numbers as it did last month, so we've got to estimate by eye. However, there's no sign of any backlash to the end of December.
It appears that premium accounts have grown from 42,400 to roughly 48,000, returning to a more balanced growth of approximately 13% for the last month (down from the 30% of November 2006, but more in line with the previous three months). Counting November as an anomaly, the growth of premium accounts seems to be stable at around 13-14% per month.
Land seems to have grown by about 50sq kms; User hours continue to rise, though not as sharply; Lindex volume rose what appears to be about $1.5 million USD, and payouts rose about a half million USD.
All in all we're seeing steady growth - but question arise about whether that growth will be maintained in the face of the issues the grid is currently facing.
