Let's pretend I'm rich. I'm going to give you a sim. The only thing is, you must use that sims resources to build one (or more) statues of great figures and/or events in Second Life's history.
Who and what would you commerate this way? Why?
This rather random thought was prompted because Maggie Thatcher, for those that don't know, became the first living former Prime Minister to have a statue erected of her in the Houses of Parliament. At the same time our political news is dominated by stories about Tony Blair's legacy.
My first thought: models of the various special suns we've had. Shamrocks, hearts, suns with 1,000,000 emblazoned on them and others, but that feels dull, so I'm just askin' "what would you have and why?"

1. Having only been here about a year in SL, I don't know a whole lot of the history other than what I've seen, or who I know.
So, for statues of people, I'd have to say the following:
Tateru Nino - the one and only. :)
Yumi Murakami - First person to really reach out to me in SL and thus has had a big impact on me.
Events/things:
The BananaPhone avatar, with the a plaque next to it inscribed with "The most vile avatar *EVER*"
A meuseum of all historacle goo attack objects with all features in-tact except for the replication. A sort of "grey goo museum"
A map of the grid made from .25m3 cubes, each with a snapshot of the sim from the map view. And I'd probably try to do something stupid like have it stay up to date on a week by week bases, inclusive of adding new sims.
