Car insurance comes to Second Life

Continuing the stories of businesses in SL and RL, we have a big one entering the fold in more ways than one! Unitrin Insurance has opened an office in SL based on its tower block offices in Chicago.

I have to say I'm not a fan of tower block architecture, and it looks even more out of place in SL to my eyes, but once you go into the lobby things get better quickly. The lobby is friendly and comfortable, and looks like a business venue, but one in SL. The nicest single thing must be that you can at least start the process of getting a quote for your car insurance in world (but only if you have a US zipcode). Admittedly step three takes you out to a website again, but you can get started in world without dashing out to a website. Eventually this lobby will be staffed with RL employees of Unitrin to talk to you about your insurance and help you sort things out.

Although the systems are up and running, Unitrin are launching officially tomorrow (27th February) with a big party at The Infinite Mind from 4pm to 9pm SL Time. I would provide a slurl, but the sim is currently blocked so it seems a little silly. Let's hope they get it open for tomorrow!
