2. I never did see the point of telehubs. We had p2p before and it was good. LL put the hubs in to force us to explore... and all that happened was that we got trapped in badly designed markets.

These days, with lag and sim-crossing being worse than it's ever been, I'm glad they're gone. I'd hate to attempt a long journey if I was going to crash every quarter of a kilometre.

3. I hated hub. My expernces include having to travel across many sims. Witch ushally require flying around huge buildings, no fly zone, no entry zones, empty sim holes, laggy sims, invisable walls rezzing (trapping avatars inside boxes) All the hubs looked the same, they rarely listed any thing of intrest, and every one would always end up teleporting ontop of each other.
just imagtion if you had to go through 20 web pages to get to the page you want.

5. I really do miss telehubs. I think it made the land market a big more intriguing, and I found some cool stuff exploring. Sim crossings are a lot better now a days as well.

6. GOOD RIDDANCE!

The original purpose for telehubs was to create social centers where people could congregate and meet people they wouldn't ordinarily meet. That never really happened, instead we just had to fly through laggy sims to get to the congregations of people we wanted to meet.

The only surviving argument for telehubs involved property values and only affected mainland property owners. The downside is, the arbitrary teleport limitation hindered the experience of people who were not involved in the land game!

If people long for a more interesting property experience, perhaps the Lindens could impose arbitrary prim limitations on some parcels and not others. That would tinker with land values enough to keep things interesting, but not make the rest of us fly an obstacle course to get to our destination ;D

The way I see it is that people who had land where they created telehubs got a bonus when they were created, and then were given another bonus when they were taken away. Telehubs favoured the lucky few and did irreperable damage to many who weren't in "the right place at the right time".

8. I don't miss telehubs, but only because I feel that their main purpose was never successful. Namely, that of creating regions of "traffic".

One thing that has become rare though is common knowledge of what the beacon means. Telehubs used to mean a two step process to getting to your location... a click on the map which transported you to the nearest telehub, then following the red beacon to your final destination.

Now, people are so accustomed to instant arrival that when they can not TP directly to where they want to go, they are not aware that a beacon is pointing the way. I think when you are blocked from TP'ing directly you should get a popup message.

Right now, it is really hard to create community in SL without a lot of cash and ownership. It seems there is less and less purpose for regions to be one continuous land mass and we might as well have all of SL as separate islands (like web pages).

Being one continuous space made Second Life different from the web. I can't imagine any major corporation ever being part of the mainland. The taboo word here is "zoning". Why do we continue to have SL as a continuous land when current TP behavior would make it the same as if it where all islands?

Do I still fly? No. I hit too many red bars which reach insanely high, blocking me from empty (yes empty, no buildings or people) plots of land making it impossible one to just fly from one store to another visible store. I had to TP.
