The International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW as it's more commonly known) runs a seal hunt watch every year to observe, protest and try to stop the seal hunts in the Canadian Arctic. The campaign, and the hunt, starts today and runs until 10th April.
There are a variety of microsites for this campaign, and there will be blogs, podcasts and all the modern tools of web communication to keep you updated. In addition Trellon LLC have given a part of Progressive Island in Second Life up for IFAW for this campaign. You can visit them in-world to pick up news, reviews, progress reports and the like, or sloog for IFAW to find links. You can also make donations at this site, and ask Daisey Meadowbrook for an invitation to the IFAW Stop the Seal Hunt Group.
I know the biology is all wrong, penguins are restricted to the Southern Hemisphere for a start, but I couldn't resist finishing with this picture I took of Nobody Fugazi, their in-world technical support, at the meeting.

1. Cute seal picture; too bad that hunt has been banned for over 20 years now. Sure does help with the fund raising campaign's though.
