Something a bit different this week for talking about the education market, less chat about things from SLED, instead a couple of pointers to a RL property law class.
Why these two? Well, my impression, however wrong, is that law school tends to the stuffy and backwards looking - yet here is one jumping into SL wholeheartedly. They are also looking at issues of property law within a new paradigm. I have to say property law isn't something that makes me wake up in the night with blazing fire, nor with headaches, but in the light of sheep.search and Landbaron Merlin's escapades, as well as RL situations like Bragg v Linden Lab it has the potential to be a hot topic.
It is also one that I'd point all the RL educators to: it deals with a number of issues about teaching and assessing in SL. I'm sure I wouldn't have made all the same decisions they did, I'm not sure they'd repeat all their decisions either, but it is a good source of food for thought. If you're not an educator, there are still interesting elements in there about how things can be shown in SL, as well as what property rights might mean.
