1. I have to tell you, Moo, I am Deeply Impressed with the level of calm you are exhibiting (even if you aren't at all collected on the inside, you certainly appear that way). I was reading your original post right when SL was giving me the "moving you to a new database" message and nearly choked on my coffee. I have my RL fingers crossed for the health and safety of all the missing inventories.

2. After reading the list of "other possible reasons for inventory loss" I'm left wondering when Linden Lab intends to start using the blog for information and not excuses.

I've not had the issue with invetory loss, but this is absolutely stupid. The note regarding use of wireless connections caused me to read further on that. If you read the list of things that SL is *not* compatible with,it's amazing anyone can use it at all. I will research, but I strongly doubt that other online world systems have such a long list of video cards and other "reasons" that their software won't function properly.
Linden Lab is becoming quite efficient at placing the blame elsewhere

3. To Moo and Jaxi it happened at 10:50PM SLT - what a coincidence huh? Nicole Linden has clearly no clue as something like this is of course server related and not client related. LL knew about the problem but clearly didn't inform "Live Help" about it as they were completely clueless.

4. This happened to me about 915 pm sl time and I was told by Nicole Linden that it was my computer even after I told her other accounts worked fine and mine didnt work on other computers.I logged in after a long delay to find no inventory and a newbie avatar.Nicole tells me to change into another avatar.....lol.I have none...Think lindens need to teach helpers to listen more.Maybe if lindens would have thought there was a problem earlier it would not have happened to others.

5. I was not a victim of this, but I got scared as hell when I went to log on yesterday night, and as I was logging on I saw "Please wait, moving your inventory to another database" I freaked out, because I thought that it was about to happen to me. But then, I got delogged and it said "your account is undergoing matenence"..... When I logged on about 20 mins later everything was normal....

... but I'm thinking, what if other people got the "moving inventory to another database" and that is where the problems happen. ?? i dunno

7. Hi, Moo, I lost my compete inventory on Monday 16th, about 12PM SLT. It happened to a friend, Jarun Juran, who visited my home first, then to me also. What disturbs me even more than the inventory loss is that my avatar is re-shaped to newbie proportions (I am MUCH to vain to tolerate the sight of that), and I can't access appearance mode in order to fix that. Jarun Juran is experiencing the very same symptoms.
Contacting in-world help, but didn't a reaction yet.

One of the most maddening things about inventory lost is determining the cause; often, we find that inventory isn't lost, just not showing up — that's why those steps were listed, to go through, and more accurately discern what's happening. In the case of lossy wireless connections, I personally (several times) have experienced what appeared to be missing inventory, but turned out after clearing cache (strongly recommended as noted), they showed up again.

I also wanted to thank you for your patience, moo, and covering this despite such awful, indeed frightening circumstances — I've checked to make sure the names mentioned here are now on our list, and will check with Lindens in QA, Dev, and Ops who've all been working on this.

I'm unable to track blog comments better (co.mments and 100s of threads without a clear way to prioritize isn't working out for me too well), so if there are more Residents who've also experienced the "total inventory loss" described, and gone through the steps to check whether this is likely the case, please email me personally — torley at lindenlab dot com with all details, including prior support/bug email #.

I'll reply to confirm when you're added.

Torley Linden updated the Official Linden Blog today...

"[Apr. 17 @ 5 PM PDT] Results of our investigation: on Friday (2007-04-13), several hundred thousand Residents’ data was moved to different inventory servers to alleviate load.

Unfortunately, this resulted in problems, because a “transform” sequence erroneously ran multiple times, overwriting data and resulting in some Residents with missing inventories.

Currently, we’ve examined the logs and identified 9 Residents with entire inventories missing, and 42 with partially “messed-up” inventory. We’re sorry if you’re among the affected; we’re working quickly to restore each of these inventories from backups, and hoping all goes well.

Please note the above applies to this specific issue. There are a number of earlier inventory loss issues that’ve affected more Residents, which appear to have similar or the same root causes. We’re also working on these..."

i hope they can resolve things for us - 3 of my friends and me - we all suffered partial inventory loss and hopefully this will be fixed soon :)

Same thing for me. How do I report my lost inventory? I went to the Live Help, but they didn't seem to know how to help me. Can I report my lost inventory even though I am just a basic account?
