Reuters is carrying news that confirms inferences made from Meta Linden's office hours last Friday (27 April 2007), namely that Linden Lab is going to be easing out of the orientation business, and handing more of that to third-party orientation operations.Third party orientation experiences are expected to be listed as options for new residents "within the next month". Competing orientation experiences will certainly (hopefully) be considerably more agile and adaptable than an overloaded Linden Lab, whose last major orientation update took 14 months and deployed just recently.

1. Hopefully Reuters is right and this is a full retreat, not a test.
