The SL Herald breaks the news that Playboy is set to dip its toes into SL's pond sometime in June, and notes that there is no information on what their presence will entail. However, in a world where Playboy-level beauty is readily available, how can Hugh and the Girls compete?I'd imagine there would have to be some sort of multimedia content, perhaps in the form of video streams of mansion parties, celebrity appearances, maybe some behind the scenes looks at photoshoots. They might choose to offer versions of their printed articles. You'll likely be able to purchase a subscription or an associated product.
Yet SL far outshines anything Playboy might come up with in the matter of prurient content -- pretty much anything you desire can be had for a price. Will this make a splash? Do we care?

1. I've replied to this before, but the interesting thing to me is to see what a brand that has been in the provision of adult services for years will do with this platform. Which is not to say that it is a good thing. For instance, the technically amateur club owners and their dealings with the technically amateur dancers and then compare that, and this is an if, to any type of club Playboy introduces would be interesting from an HR point.
Another thing to point out, which I didn't mention before, is that there is more to Playboy than just sex. This might be their opportunity to refocus on the other things that make the magazine unique. One thing that came to mind was the old Playboy After Dark progam. Perhaps Playboy will introduce a sim that will be a whole encompassing Playboy experience and not just the sex.
