The infrastructure of Second Life is still struggling to cope. Despite relatively magnificent peak performance in the last couple of weeks, basic systems are suddenly struggling to cope with loads that are half that. Search systems are still down, payments and teleportation remains erratic. Map texture loading is hit and miss. The severity of these problems changes. At some times, only searches are problematic, while at others, hardly anything seems to be working. Linden Lab say that they are aware of the problem and don't require any more support requests on these issues to add to the workload. They're still working on it, but aren't divulging any clues as to the nature of the problem, or even that they know what the cause is at the present time.

1. It's 10:40 EDT (7:40 Linden time) and I have not been able to complete a Search successfully for over 24 hours. I have been using landmarks to get around, but every place I go is deserted. Another few hours of this, and it won't matter if they get it fixed because everyone will leave and not come back. I still find it mystifying that A) they are still rolling out "feature" upgrades and B) they only comment on the blog about this issue ever 6 hours or so, and there is never any new information. Am I to assume that they have no idea what the proplem is? Or that it's so bad they are afraid to tell us?
