1. I wonder if Linden Lab is going to reclaim land for fees not paid.
If they have some sort of automated system that takes land based on no-payment, and then they break the payment system...

2. LL is positively worthless. First cut support to nothing unless you're a paying customer (the knowledgebase is slightly less helpful than going on the offical SL forums or Second Citizen and begging for help), and now they're making it impossible to be a paying customer!

I'm sure NBC and Nissan aren't having this problem, or if they were it would be fixed RIGHT AWAY.

Let's face it, everyone. Unless your legal name ends in 'Incorporated' LL simply doesn't give a crap about you anymore, even though you were the ones who helped them along the way. Sad.

3. An update - my PayPal account isn't backed by a credit card but by my actual bank account. Something is seriously wrong here, and with all the billing problems I have had in the past few months I'm beginning to wonder whether it is worth it. Of course, it still is, but - when I reach a point where I start to question, when I find myself frustrated... well, I should not be in this place.

How will Linden Lab make this right? That is what I want to know. How will they erase these questions from my mind? Do they really want me thinking about these issues so much?

I'm waiting for the competitor to show up.

5. Nobody,
does LL accepts ordinary (International?) bank transfers? We did this with MT, our hosting provider, when they had similar problems (IT towards USA) after which they settled with paypal and works now beautifully.

But bank transfer is still acceptable to LL? Just wondering.

6. Starcomber - the email implied that bank transfer supported PayPal would work, since it said that credit card backed PayPal would not.

However, I have found that this is not the case. My PayPal account is connected to a checking account - no credit card.

I've had problems for almost 10 days now. Buying inworld or on the website resulted in an error on my (non premium) account with a perfectly valid credit card (not through paypal). Needless to say that a support email wasn't answered.

When I saw the recent blog post about linden exchange being stopped inworld I tried again on the website and got a valid transaction on Saturday (didn't try it again yet).

I'd say with this problem and the server/sim side problems it's no wonder that the memory leak fix in the viewer got plowed under. If there's smoke coming from the kitchen and the barn is on fire and the car just went poof in a fireball it's probably easy to forget a leak behind the kitchen sink.

Neural, the answer is eventually. I've had billing issues before and you have a week's grace to pay the bills, how quickly after that you get frozen I'm not sure.

Before Nobody starts shouting, I do agree it's kind of up to them to be able to take the money we have and want to use to pay them as long as it's a legally recognised payment method. Glitches do happen (I joined an organisation that was meant to take subscriptions annually by direct debit and took it monthly instead for 3 months for example) but by and large if a company wants to keep its customers letting them pay when they want and need to, as easily as possible is a good plan.

13. Well, as I've said to a couple people in world. I know it's a nightmare for some people because of this recent set of problems with money and LL, and my business as well as a few friends reporting also, has been a near standstill.
After a year in SL, I think I've gotten accustom to this sort of total and complete screw up. What makes me so livid about this is the attitude we are getting from LL on it. It seems to go beyond not caring, but into arrogance.
I'm staying in world, but am in the process of selling my land for various reasons. This recent issue kinda adds to that. I agree with Nobody Fugazi, I'm watching for a competitor to take huge advantage of this situation. I just hope they don't launch early in order to strike while the iron is hot, or they will end up having the same issues that LL does in regards to performance.

14. Neural - yup, that is always the danger. Of course there has been no rumbling of opening the servers, Linden Lab continues to grow more distant (and dare I say 'catty'?) and reveling in ambiguity, while Philbert is off talking to the press about what he thinks he sees in his crystal ball.

Any one incident could be understood. Even a few. But it all adds up with an ambiguous ToS and rules where the lines are unknown.

They are now perfectly set up for a community backlash.

15. I had the same problem starting 10 days ago I think. I deleted my payment source from the Website, waited for it to be verified and then even though I was still getting the error, the Linden $s would come through. Oh and I did call my bank as well - and they said the charges weren't even reaching the card, so clearly it is/was on LL side. I have seen threads on this for the last 2 weeks on various forums...and yet no one at LL acknowledged a widespread problem until Friday :/

16. Having said I'd keep a beady eye on it, my PayPal got billed, eventually, and went through with no problem. It was billed 30 minutes AFTER the end of the day the bill was due (which is possibly the start of the working day for their UK based billing agency at 8:30 am), but it was billed successfully.

Of course, at least as far as I'm concerned, a UK billing agency is a good thing™ since it's within the country - maybe that helped me?

18. Oh good! I thought it was just me. I have a premium account and Paypal backed up by a credit card and a bank account, and I must have tried 50 times to make a transaction over the last week. Every single time it failed.

This was the first time in my SL experience I ever found myself looking for help from LL, and I must say, what a pain in the rear that was! It's impossible to navigate a less-than-readable knowledge base for something you don't really know the answer OR question to.

It didn't help that the Support Portal (which I'm still not sure I ever found) was apparently down for a couple of days.

Frustrating...indeed.

19. The problem seems to affect pay pal accounts that even if verified are backed up by credit card only and not by a bank account. This may give me relief towards this problem but again it would be extra nice if Linden Lab could give an answer as well as more info on this issue.
