A while back, I heard about a convention that would be similar to SLCC, but would take place in Amsterdam. To my knowledge, nothing ever came of this, but now there is one in Berlin, Germany. Are they one and the same? No matter, because there are bigger issues to take up with this endeavor.I have actually just learned that there are *two* conferences in Germany in September. Why did these two organizations not get together to plan one big conf? This seems to be a situation where greed and glory are the motivating factors.
It just doesn't seem like that attractive of a conference...
SLConference is said to be the Euro answer to the US convention, however it would actually be almost cheaper for anyone outside of Germany to attend SLCC. A company could send four employees to the US and sponsor SLCC for the cost of the mid-level sponsorship at SLConference. Both would cost over 1000-1500 USD even if you're local, but SLCC is cheaper by far for admission. If you're on an extreme budget, though, you could always go to the SL Fresno conference this weekend!
I'm not saying that SLCC is superior in content, although there's not much on the SLConf schedule to judge on. They've had many months to plan this and disclose their schedule, yet with only three months away, their schedule is almost empty. They should be focused on attendance and bios for their program at this point in the game. Of course SLCC will also be offering streaming audio and in-world activities for their convention for those that cannot attend, so we'll see if SLConf does the same.
Think I'm being too harsh? Leave a comment!
(Disclosure: I am on the planning committee for the Second Life Community Convention, which is run by a nonprofit organization, the Future United Group.)

1. You know, sometimes the bigger folks don't play well with others instead of the other way around. That said, it might also be a matter of geography. Here in the Caribbean, NONE of them are near me so I'm laughing at this.
They don't really matter. It's the same hot air that was blowing for the internet, for weblogs... *yawn*... and it will be the same hot air for the next thing that comes along.
