PETA has just announced the first-ever (and how many times have I said that phrase? but this time I think it's the real deal) in-world anti-fur protest, taking place at an unnamed location from July 12 to the 18th. That seems like an odd schedule, but that's not important. PETA is teaming up with Stella McCartney, herself a lifelong vegetarian, to offer a contest to provide PETA with the best slogan. From the site:"First prize: two tickets to the Spring-Summer 2008 fashion show in Paris in October. Second prize: a Fall-Winter Appaloosa bag. Third prize: a full set of CARE by Stella McCartney, the first luxury organic skincare line, containing 100 per cent organic active ingredients."
So, get thinking about what might make a good anti-fur slogan, and check out the event -- the location ought to be announced soon. Hmm ... I hope PETA is prepared for the Furries to show up in packs ...

1. You know... I do wonder about the potential for some shenanigans with the whole anti-fur thing. You get a few goons in there, or some PETA folks who don't know about or cleave to the furry community (consider the prizes and ponder the communities those would seem to target) and you could have some real misunderstandings. I suppose I see a whole lot of room for the formulation of some anti-fur sentiment, if you get my drift.
Besides, Peta doesn't really do enough for me to really get behind them. Unless maybe they were walking down a flight of stairs and nobody else was around.
