This is the first in a series of largely demographic interviews that will be conducted with established residents, to find out more about them and their involvement with Second Life, and to contrast the differences between their views and experiences and those of the newer residents. The questions may be tailored slightly for each interview; responses may be edited for purposes of clarity.
I ran into Muttenchops Chaplin whilst I was hanging around the New Citizen's plaza in Kuula, looking to swoop down upon new residents, grab them and train them as minions to serve in my glorious army and ask a few pertinent questions about Second Life. Finding that Muttenchops had been around for some time, I elected to ask him this set of questions instead.

Don't really think I have any one subculture. I hang out here [at the New Citizen's Plaza in Kuula], try to learn as much as I can. Meet nice folks, doesn't matter what they are into as long as they are nice.
Do you have a favorite SL celebrity; if so, why are they your favorite?
Carl Metropolitan. He seems like a pretty nice fellow and does a lot for the SL community.
Do you have a favorite SL content creator (scripter, builder, artist, machinima, music), and why are they your favorite?
Yeah, I really like, umm, name's right on the tip of my tongue. She has a lot of the free stuff here. Like the hobo stuff. Arcadia Asylum.
What do you prefer to do in SL as regards content creation (scripting, building, artistic, machinima, music, etc), and why?
I like to build stuff. I spent a good bit of my time when I first started SL exploring and meeting people, but now I am spending more time learning to build stuff. One of the first things I built was a flashlight. I have made several sci-fi type things to add to one of my avatars and I have built some home furnishings. I spent some time trying to make clothes, but I don't really care for that part of it.
What sort of events (if any) do you prefer to attend?
I have been to several of the NCI events like the beach parties, other than that I have not really been to many other events.
What would prevent you from attending an event?
I am on a Mac so anything along thoses same lines I guess [like the Linux client not supporting video streams or voice]. Also any event that would conflict with my personal views, like racist stuff, etc.
