1. Actually, this device landing on my desk is what prompted the addition of the Joystick Flycam, so it works well for flying the camera around in SL. I use it for debugging and building sometimes. Use the "3D Cursor" check box to make it work and crank the "Feathering" slider way down. Getting analog inputs into the avatar, however, will require a little more work.

2. I use SpaceMouse (advanced version of SpaceNavigator). but I recommend using Playstation's Joypad, rather than it :-).

I use the SpacePilots at work for CAD, and I really think about getting one for SL at home. If you never used one of these things you maybe need some time to get used to it, but it's a really useful thing and (at least for 3D-CAD) worth the money

4. Wow, I really hope they add support for SL to use as an avatar controller. That would be awesome.

And Nock, how would one go about using a PS joypad with SL? I would consider giving that a try too. I've been looking for better control solutions than a mouse and keyboard for SL.

9. the flycam doesn't work with my wiimote, so unless that gets fixed I don't see much future for me using 3d accessories with SL (for example FreeTrack combined with a program that turns TrackIR inputs into joystick inputs uses the same system of coverting on sort of input into a joystick input, PPJoy, so, virtual joysticks aparently won't work, not sure if it has to do with the order the input devices are "viewed" by certain programs or the problem is else)

10. Control SL with PS2 Joypad is easy. There are "PS2 to USB Convert adaptor". and it's came with keyboard emulating software. Just like using multibutton mouse to SL.

But it's would be cool if we can use SpaceNavigator with SL! and please consider using "MX Air" logitech's new mouse :-).

12. Hmm...it seems like people have gotten this to work as a joystick flycam controller, which is great for some people, but I'm more interested in using it to control avatar movement. I guess I'll try the gamepad method instead. That MX Air mouse is way too expensive for me, too.

13. I've actually tried the SpaceNavigator. It's pretty difficult to get past the learning curve. And even then, it's so hard to twist it just enough... so hard to duplicate something twice. Applying the right amount of pressure takes too much training...
