Starry, starry night

Robbie Dingo, creator of the Hyperflute among other things has created a machanima of his recreation of Van Gough's "Starry Night" in Second Life. It is no longer possible to visit the site, sadly, as the machanima was the art intended to be seen.

I have to say, like many others I'm blown away by the machanima - but, speaking for myself, I wish there was a build left to go and walk around - there is something magical in that ability SL gives us, which a machanima fails to capture.

2. Realy good one. It is great to see when machinima is not just video capturing from second life, but a complete movie made in virtual environment.
I dislike name of the avatar above the head, though.

4. It truly is a shame the build used to create this machinima no longer exists. Lacking that, I wish the machinimist had at least spent a little more time filming the finished project. Still, it is some lovely work. Thanks for sharing

6. O... M... G... That is unbelievable talent. I can't believe how beautiful that was. If Second Life was good for nothing else, it would still be be brillaint as a means of letting this kind of stuff out of people. Good heavens! This guy is such an artist that we must call him arTEEST.

7. That's so sad. I was lucky enough to pick up on Starry Night from another blog and go and check it out, and it's one of the most interesting builds I've seen. Such a pity others wont get to experience it :(

8. Thanks everyone for the comments - all much appreciated. I'm sorry the Sim was
wiped. :) However, I will be posting another video later tonight which includes the out-takes that did not make it into the film - additional footage of the Sim before it went 'poooof'.
