Who are we? - Dustbin Bedlam

Second Life resident and mentor, Dustbin Bedlam. This is the seventh in a series of largely demographic interviews that are conducted with established residents, to find out more about them and their involvement with Second Life, and to contrast the differences between their views and experiences and those of the newer residents. The questions may be tailored slightly for each interview; responses may be edited for purposes of clarity.

I see Dustbin regularly at my office hours in Hallasan. I originally met him on what I think was his first day in Second Life. "I am a Second Life Mentor," he says, "I have been since I was about 90 days old I think. It has been a great experience. I have met people that are great artists just starting out in SL, it is incredible watching them progress quickly to making new and unique things."

Second Life Name? Dustbin Bedlam

Second Life Age? 517 days

Label your subculture in Second Life. (Can be all the cultures you're involved in, or some part thereof.)
I don't know that I can do that. I'm not part of a subculture that I am aware of.

Who is your favorite Second Life celebrity and why? (This could be a Linden you like, perhaps someone well known in your community, etc)(Content creators are covered in the next question.)
Tateru Nino because she was my mentor when I first arrived and I find her take on Second Life to be interesting. Also she makes an awesome comic.

Do you have a favorite Second Life content creator (scripter, builder, artist, machinima, music, etc), and why? (Anyone whose work you personally like.)
I have found quite a few artists that I like in Second Life, though I'm afraid I don't remember most of their names. I like machinima - the one linked by Torley today was excellent. Also I like unique avatars; a friend of mine that sadly has since left Second Life made some great transformers that would become things like refrigerators.

What do you prefer to do in Second Life as regards content creation (scripting, building, artistic, machinima, music, OR NONE, etc), and why?
I'm a programmer in RL and it carries over to Second Life, but also I like building things. Most of my creations remain unfinished as I don't sell things and end up dropping things when I get tired of them. I dabble in everything; I keep a folder organized by type. It currently contains: Accessories(Glasses and Watches), Avatars, Shoes, Furniture, Armor, Starwars, Utilities, Vehicles and Weapons. Notice Starwars got it's own section :P

What sort of events (if any) do you prefer to attend?
I like going to Building Shelter which is a gameshow/competition at the Shelter. It's interesting to see what people can create in 10 minutes.

What would prevent you from attending an event? (Technical, ethical, mood considerations, other people, etc)
I am not fond of large group interaction in RL and I suppose it transfers to Second Life as well. Generally why I don't go to concerts in RL or Second Life.
