Boston Goes Virtual; Expect Tea Party Griefing

Boston, Massachusetts: A city of history and traditionalism, now considering entering SL with recreations of its civic buildings and governmental functions. '"We want to be part of this innovation that's out there," said Bill Oates, the city's chief information officer.'

The naysayer in me says that if the motivation is merely to be part of the latest craze that's sweeping the nation, then this will fall flat, but what the hell, I have to give it to the city planners for thinking outside of the normal routine there. What do you all think: Is this a good way to engage Boston's residents? Does this sort of thing ever really work?
