We're not sure quite what is going on right now, there's no word from Linden Lab as yet. At 1:15am SLT (US Pacific) with 25,031 users online, users began to disconnect or be disconnected from the Second Life grid. By 2AM, the users remaining online had dropped to 16,728 - uncharacteristically low for this time of week.
We've not yet spoken to anyone who was cut off and unable to reconnect, but we've had word from many people who are frustrated at a sudden rash of teleportation, asset and inventory failures, and the search system failing to function. Linden Lab cannot be contacted at this time. We'll hope for some sort of word from them soon.
[UPDATE: 2:30AM SLT - The grid seems to be starting to recover and there are mass logins in progress]

1.
As it seems many (if not most) German users are cut off again. There are various reports on JIRA about it and I have experienced the same lockout shortly on Friday (while they said support was offline), again on Saturday and now the whole of Sunday so far.
It appears as a network problem for traffic that comes in through a certain route (over level3 networks).
Not a word on the blog and not even a word that they are aware of the far reaching impact of the problem.
