After many frustrations with existing machinima gadgets, CodeBastard Redgrave has created her own in order to shoot a small movie for her friends. The result is a simple HUD camera, perfectly suited for the point-and-shoot people or for those who do not want to spend time setting up complicated camera angles, which entail having build rights on the land of interest.
Redgrave did mention that she plans on optimizing and adding features to her camera, including some that enable collaborations. Future version upgrades as well as lifetime product support are offered free of charge after the camera purchase. For more information, you can watch the youtube demo above or visit the OnRez listing for the product.

1. Greetings Nacon,
I don't see both approaches as exclusive. Nothing prevents you from using a scripted cam and the joystick. There are downsides to both approaches. Try and do a spiral, or twister , or earthquake (shaking cam) with a joystick. Joystick cam doesn't provide followcam effects either (to my knowledge). Another thing is, let's be honest, joystick may be a bit tough to setup at first for a newbie.
I made this device mainly for ease of setup and use, and cam movement automation. Joystick is great for moving the cam, but it doesn't provide automated cam movements. Personally I think both good scripted cams and joystick, or even better the SpaceNavigator (from 3DConnection) are all useful weapons to better tame the cam. Some will prefer only joystick, others will use both, but for automated effects I think scripted cams are essential until we make a Machinima SL Client.
