2. ...and they changed them to look like Windoze XP silver theme from 5 years ago. There is NO WAY anything that UGLY is getting on my Mac.

The UI needs a massive overhaul but changes need to be made in its basic functionality (or lack of it) and not just by giving it a hideous paint-job.

3. I'm not sure about the colours, but it's nice to see they can reskin - and it works in s Nicholaz client too.

But... square buttons? So last millennium.

Having different colours for the inventory background - good move, will have to see about tweaking them.

Why isn't the IM history background a different colour too?!

5. Ok, I spent about an hour - a big chunk of which was sorting out the .j2c's so they'd preview in finder (don't bother if you come to do this, focus on the .tga files), then colouring the buttons, tweaking the xml.

There are a few confusing bits:
- some documentation would be nice.
- why THREE different unhighlighted rectangular buttons and two highlighted ones?

But, in an hour I made an interface that I'm quite a lot happier with. Have to update the "selected item in menu" background colour (dark blue looks very odd on pale green), and I'm going to play with the pie menu colours, but, despite these problems I've got to say it's a big step in the right direction!

6. I installed the files on 1.18.4(0) the latest Release Candidate...the only that I noticed is the "Lag Meter" menu pick is gone from the Help menu...why a skin would affect content is beyond me...but hey, this is Linden Labs we're talking about.

Also, I had to tweak the various text chat font colors to be able to read them in the chat history...

8. EEeek.... not sure if I'm loving it since I'm more toward to dark theme but this is too bright for me.

What they really need to do is make the skin....skinnable like how we can change WinAmp or WMP or desktop theme.

Too bright for me.. O_O

10. I like light text on dark background way more than the other way around, whenever I can (on sites, programs etc) I choose to have it that way, for me it is much easier to read stuff that way, light background is more aggressive to the eyes for me

11. @Interfect - yes, I noticed the same thing. Glancing at screenshots of both makes me feel that either one is stealing from the other, or both are stealing from somewhere else.

14. Has been looking into the files that Ben has made modification with. Barely got enough idea to do this skin modding on my own.

Can produce any nice graphic by redoing the textures that was given but tweaking the XML files is...... somewhat confusing and painful to look at. Stuff like default window box surface color, color of the font, color of the highlights, etc, etc... :/

15. There's certainly a whole hell of a lot that can be tweaked with those XML files (which makes them confusing) and a few glaring omissions, or places where behavior is wired into the code (which makes it frustrating).

It makes me wonder if there is, indeed, any simpler way to go about it, or whether skinning the client is just going to be grind, grind, grind.
