Cory Edo will be known to many of you. If she isn't her work surely is. As a member of the MDC Electric Sheep Company, Cory has worked on many public projects, and has also been interviewed on Secondcast. Even though she was officially on vacation, she generously gave me a little of her time to answer some burning questions. More after the jump!
How did you come to be with [ESC]?
Cory Edo: Well Makaio and I had our own development company back at the end of '05 called Tiny Seadog. We did mostly inworld stuff but a few RL projects as well. When ESC approached us about joining up, it was just getting to that put up or shut up point where I'd have to set up a business license, taxes, all that stuff, which I dreaded doing. So this seemed like a good way to be able to just concentrate on building and texturing and letting someone else handle the administrative aspects ... plus tracking down the jobs.
AOL Pointe continues its streak of interesting events. Today they are hosting a Latin themed dance party. So, get your maracas, and your salsa attire and dance your way over to AOL Pointe around 5PM SLT. The event is occurring in Club AOL.
At the same time, they are apparently replaying the My Chemical Romance concert. So, if you were kicking yourself for missing it, you have another chance to catch it. This is also starting at 5PM in the AOL Amphitheater.
Today on AOL Pointe you can catch a walking tour of the island from 2-3PM SLT. Meet the group out in front of the AOL Pointe Store. If you get there early you can grab yourself a free skateboard while your at it.
After the tour, stick around and check out Ciara at the AOL Amphitheater. Kicking off at 5PM SLT with Goodies and wrapping up with I'm Just Me at 7:15 the virtual concert should be a lot of fun. If you don't know already, Ciara is the Grammy Award winning Hip-Hop R&B artist, who has released two top selling CDs and collaborated with other greats like Missy Elliot and Ludacris.
Last night I took some time to really explore AOL Pointe. To my surprise I came upon a My Chemical Romance concert streaming in the AOL Amphitheater. (Check out the screen shot above.) If you haven't taken the time to check out the Island for yourself, you should plan a trip.

AOL Pointe, which we previewed here, is open to the public right now. If you've read all about it and want to see it all for yourself, teleport yourself over there. The sim seems to be stable for up to 50 avatars at once, with very little lag at a full load.
AOL Pointe has its own website and events calendar, check them out if you want to know more. You'll certainly see the blue-shirted AOL Pointe staff around the site today. There's more fun and cool things there than we've had space to mention. Definitely worth visiting.
AOL is getting ready to launch its own presence in Second Life. Its new space, called AOL Pointe, will feature AOL Music, Moviefone, TMZ, among other AOL created content. It is apparently AOL's intent that AOL Pointe will act as a place the company can try out new product features and perform market research.
The beta test of AOL Pointe is expected to begin in about a week. If you are interested in participating in the beta, which will occur within Second Life, you can sign up on AOL's Beta Site. As a reminder AOL is the parent company of Weblogs Inc., the operators of the Second Life Insider.
