The GNUbie store is the brainchild of Jai Nomad who has been a Second Life resident since July 2003. The place is simply packed with L$0 and L$1 items, with consistently high quality. The two level building houses the work of residents both recent and far-from-recent; even the venerable Toy LaFollette still has her work displayed here.

For the most part the store is laid out in such a way that even folks who have a little trouble with their camera controls can still use it fairly well and there is a wide range of interesting goods to be picked up here, some of which can be modified, and many of which are transferable.

I'm going fashion crazy today, but I can't help it! Shai Delacroix passed me an invite to a Date a Designer Auction put on by her Relay For Life teams, Shopaholics for a Cause and Shopaholics for a Cure. The event takes place on Saturday, April 7^th, at 12pm PST on the Nuka Hiva sim. The attire for the event is luau, so bring your leis! Ten high-profile designers will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to Relay For Life. You own their products, but now you can own them for a couple of hours!

Valentines Day has long stood for gifts and romance, but in Second Life, it takes on a whole new meaning: FREEBIES! Two sets of fashion houses in Second Life are holding HUGE scavenger hunts. Of course, Second Life Insiders get the scoop here.

The first one is held by Hosequeen McLean and Zyrra Falcone, of Panache. It is open to everyone, so you don't need to be a member of their group to participate. The object is to find 11 hearts hidden around their island. Inside these hearts is an insane amount of awesome goodies, such as skin, hair, clothes, and shoes. Their hunt ends at Midnight, so don't wait!

The second one is being held by "The Quad", which consists of ETD, Canimal, Celestial Studios, and Last Call. Please note that you must be a part of one of these groups to participate, but they're all open enrollment. There are three times when you can participate, but you can only win a prize once. You must complete the scavenger hunt in order and there will be different clues each time.
