Introducing myself

Some of you probably know me already. I've been around in Second Life for a while now, in fact the contract to write for SLI appeared on the day I'd spent 2 years and 7 months inside Second Life.

For those of you that don't know me, I would describe myself in SL as primarily a scripter, and in RL primarily as a teacher. Of course that leads to scripting in RL and teaching in SL. I also sell stuff, run a couple of shops, rent some land to my friends.

I'm a moderately inveterate shopper, mainly for clothes: like many scripters I don't buy many people's gadgets, I write my own. I can (and indeed do) sell a few clothes too, but I'm a consumer in that market rather than anything else.

I plan to write a little summary of the economy inside and through Second Life every day to complement Tateru's daily census.

I'll also be reporting on educational issues in Second Life, which will spill into grid stability and features from time to time.

There will be a range of other issues I'll write about as the fancy takes me... in fact there's a new RPG within SL that I'll be checking out later on today to find out what that's all about, and writing about it soon.

Like a couple of other people here, I'm based in Europe, so my posts may appear at odd times. Things that affect us over here will also be mentioned no doubt!

Introduction: Akela Talamasca

Heya! I'm Akela, and I'll be your blogger today. Our specials include servings of Snark, lightly toasted; A hotplate of Generous Speculation, grilled to perfection; and a heaping helping of Wit, lightly seasoned with a tincture of sarcasm.

I'm pleased to have been offered this position, and promise to uphold the values for which we all stand... whatever those values end up being. We're brand new! We've still got that great new-blog smell!

Please feel free to contact me through this blog, or in-world, with your ideas on what you'd like to see me cover, or just to say hello and get pounced! I promise I've had all my shots and am housebroken. And a final word on my surname: 'Talamasca' is Latin for 'animal mask', and it is that original meaning which decided its selection as my last name, not the fact that it has enjoyed some notoriety in the pages of the Vampire Chronicles. Thank you, and let me know if you need a refill.

Introduction: Local Jezebel

Local Jezebel has been hopping in and out of SL for nearly two years all told, and every time she comes back it seems to have changed even more. In her time in-world she's been a shopper, creator, hostess, and much more; however, she finds more to love about the world every day, and enjoys exploring the odder facets of life in SL.

If you've comments, tips or suggestions for Second Life Insider, feel free to IM Jez with them -- or catch her inworld for a face to face chat about the site.
