In an article published today the LA Times reports on the difficulties of RL companies in SL. If, as I did at first, you read the headlines which say:Virtual marketers have second thoughts about Second Life
Firms find that avatars created by participants in the online society aren't avid shoppers.
You might find yourself with a sinking feeling that it's another dodgy report by a reporter who hasn't done their research, especially since yesterday we spent almost US$2,000,000 in SL. Actually, although it does have an agenda, and that agenda is that RL businesses struggle in SL, it is nicely written and well worth a read. It makes a nice outsider's view of trying to conduct business in Second Life, and some nice comments about the problems, and the plusses that some firms have found.
