SLCC - How to get laid

I'm going to file this one in the "too good to be true" section. One resident has decided to take SLCC to the next level, by anonymously cruising for sex. All that's known about her is that she is newly single, a larger woman, and ready to take action. She even has a system worked out. After exchanging emails, if it goes well, she'll approach you and whisper the password in your ear.

While not many in the thread on Second Citizen have taken her up on the offer yet, she has upped the ante by posting *ahem* a picture of her nether region. I'll just let you find that one yourself. This certainly raises the stakes for SLCC. If you are interested, send her an email.

With that said, what are your intentions for going to SLCC? Are you attending for business, pleasure, or ... other? Leave a comment!

In Memory of Jesse Malthus

My friends list is filled with residents that have come and gone from Second Life. Some have quit, while others have been banned. They may disappear from search, but they are immortalized on my list. As of Thursday, another friend of mine will never log in, but for an entirely different reason. He passed away ...

Jesse Malthus, a 17 year old high school junior from Kentucky named Jesse Higginbotham, was well-known among the IRC and LibSL circuit. He was involved in an accident on his way to school on Wednesday morning. Jesse was brought to the hospital in critical condition and passed away on Thursday morning.

While only having been in-world for three days shy of a year, he left a lasting impression on the community, spending time answering libsecondlife questions. He was also a member of the Second Citizen forums, where members are gathering to pay their condolences to a young man that expired way before his time. If you knew Jesse, please take some time out to sign his memorial guestbook so that his family knows how loved he was in Second Life.

Second Citizen Turns One

Second Life's forum of ill repute, Second Citizen, celebrates one year of brawls, drama, parody, and captioned images of kittens. But if you haven't been around to participate, fear not. Second Citizen enthusiast, Wildfire Walcott has provided a full recap of the year's events including the FICazoid wars, Mother FIC's suduction of Cocoanut, the banning of voted-5, Apotheus Silverman's takedown notice against Second Citizen, and a whole lotta Prok.

I've been with Second Citizen for a large portion of its one year existence and will confess that I leave it open in my browser at all times, occasionally reloading the new posts page for a well needed break from work. Second Citizen's owner, Mother FIC, takes pride in his absolutely-no-censorship-even-if-it-hurts approach to forum moderation. The result is a more-or-less self moderating community that feels comfortable expressing ideas and equally comfortable getting feedback for those ideas ("Your idea sucks! Here's a photo of a kitten!")

So Happy Birthday Second Citizen, and may there be many more!

Second Citizen Takedown

Second Citizens, eager to dig into some post turkey day drama, were met with a bit of shocker earlier today. Like a bold scarlet letter, the following words appeared where the Second Citizen forum should have been: "This Account Has Been Suspended."

It turns out Apotheus Silverman of SLExchange, initiated the action when he discovered that a user under the name of SloppyBot posted code that was stolen from their terminals when Second Life was hacked around a year ago. This prompted Silverman to send a notice for the material's removal starting with an e-mail to the Second Citizen admin on Nov 16, a mail to their host on the 18th, and finally an e-mail to their ISP on the 22nd. The third notice resulted in the site's suspension.

The problem is, the e-mail Apotheus used to contact the Second Citizen administrator, Mother Stuchka (known as MOTHER FIC at Second Citizen), was long defunct. Due to past problems with e-mail spamming, admin@secondcitizen.com had long been removed from the website and was no longer the preferred means of contacting the administrator. Apotheus was only able to find that e-mail address after searching old forums posts. According to Stuchka, SC administrator requests are handled via Private Messages, in-world contact, and via Yahoo.

So Stuchka was blissfully unaware while Apotheus wrote his DCMA requests to SC's host and ISP.
