"Nipplegate" continues to smoulder

Second Life bloggers are calling it "Nipplegate" - An artistic statue on water wastage and conservation had to be moved because of the presence of stone nipples (and, we guess by the location of the censored patches) the lack of a stone bikini - on a parcel of land that ostensibly carries a PG rating.

Doubly slammed as being poor policy from Linden Lab and badly handled by the non-Linden organizational team, the statue was moved - well, actually it was accidentally wrecked during the move, and had to be re-built on the new site, where it is clearly visible from the original, PG, location which prompted one of our readers to observe that it made Linden Lab's whole enforcement action seem "petty, pointless and retarded."

The slow burn

Dramas continue over at Burning Life with a vote in progress in the Burning Life group to remove Vicero Lambert for repeated "abuses of power". The current controversy centers around the removal by Lambert of Burning Life officer llvllagic Merlin - apparently the only elected officer in the organizing group.

The vote apparently is a plea to Iridium Linden, Linden Lab's liaison to the resident organizers to remove Lambert and attempt to restore some organization to the proceedings.

Censorship at Burning Life. Again.

Artistic nude male and female statues are generally not a problem. Unlike 20 years ago, when display of many of these classic figures were more controlled (or had a hat hung over them for comedic effect), these days you'll find many of the great artistic nudes in G-rated material, children's textbooks and the like. That brings us to Burning Life and an artistic female nude figure in virtual marble (the work of Hobo artist Cheen Pitney), standing on a PG Burning Life plot.

The sudden appearance of figleafing boxes marked "CENSORED" started to draw a crowd, with about twenty people arriving over the next quarter hour. Vicero Lambert and Poid Mahovlich (organizers for Burning Life this year) turned up about an hour later, and onlookers attempted to speak with them.

Lambert and Mahovlich then did something that bemused onlookers, and some say added insult to injury. Instead of answering right away, they began - inexplicably - to dance, instead. Lambert put on "yellow duckie shoes", and the pair danced silently for several minutes, to the increasing frustration and annoyance of onlookers.

Burning Life 2007 gearing up

Burning Life has been going for four years now, as a big non-commercial art exhibition and party. Last year's Burning Life event was a bit of a fizzle, failing to take off. This year, Burning Life appears to have changed direction under what seems to be new management.

Instead of a lottery for spots, proposals must be submitted for selection by a committee headed up by Vicero Lambert. Burning Life has its own website now as well, though information there is awfully sparse at present.
