Autoblog tips us off to this news nugget: the ING Renault F1 Team will be opening its own island in SL on May 25th. The experience they hope to provide is a behind-the-scenes look at actual F1 activity and performance.
The offerings of this island are many, and varied (from the press release):
- Race track: Go-kart racing, with the winner to douse the losers with champagne!
- Press Conference: This makes the team available for post-race discussion, with questions from residents
- Garage and Pit-lane: Check out what it's like to work in the Pit Stop with simulated tools and team members on hand to explain how it all works

Thursday, August 2nd 2007, 1:30pm SL Time will see the first official race at MyControl Speedway, where everyone is invited to compete. There will be a free practice session at 10, followed by the qualifying session at 12:30. Main race starts at 1:30, with a prize of 2100L for the offering.
