In all seriousness, I think "Log off now!" is a catchphrase that's here to stay for a long time. While I thought that CSI:NY and Electric Sheep Company did a great job with the episode, it was hard to resist mocking them in a fun way. Just remember that if SL becomes too much for you, you can always give RL a go!

Linden Lab gets the joke
Both the Second Life Insider as well as our parent site Joystiq have both covered the story of the www.getafirstlife.com. If you haven't heard, it is a parody site of the Second Life homepage. While I found it funny, these parody sites always get shut down with over bearing companies trying to "protect their brands" by sending out a cease and desist letter to the site operators. This is so common in fact that www.getafirstlife.com had a section for "Comments or cease and desist letters."
Linden Lab, however, proves once again that it is not your average company. In their response to the parody site, the company reminds us that they are "a company with enlightened and well-informed views regarding intellectual property rights, including the fair use doctrine, open source licensing, and other principles that support creativity and self-expression." concluding with, "your invitation to submit a cease-and-desist letter is hereby rejected."
